Here some small kiridashis. It is one of the my very favourite shapes in blades since it’s knife at its maximum expression, they’re so useful in multiple tasks. And since they are made of 1095 carbon steel they cut and cut flawlessy. They are maybe made by scrap of steels but this doesn’t matter that I make them with any love and passion as possible.

I use them most of time as pencil and pastel sharpeners, as wood scrapers, as metal scribers, as openers of various things. I love them. Since they have up to 1″ (2,5cm) chisel ground blade, small and powerful enough.

Here it is!
A new year is born and in this 2011 Bro Workshop will make new projects. All kind of creative project I’m sure will be boosted from quality and quantity side.

I’m very positive, and if I think about colours, flavours, sensations aboout the 2011 I think it will be great. I have great ideas about making always unique and only projects. Without compromises.
Just some good wishes for this year.
For folders:
I will try to continue in making excellent friction folders first.
Then I’m studying and experimenting in making slipjoint in the old fashionable way and also in my way with new solutions and materials. Maybe also some folders with a lock. I prefer back locks… Time will come and will tell.
For Fixed blades:
i will try to use even more care and quality, searching always the best woods and composites materials, using the best steel around the world. I love, really love to do fixed blades that are working and that are unique, rare, fitting like a glove in the hands, and cutting like a laser.
For more:
my anvil is awaiting to forge some damascus. Soon I will go to take suggestions from a master baldesmith that will help me also in this research. Making damascus, even the simpler one or a simple san-mai, is always something exciting and beatiful. And of course it adds more unicity to every project of mine.

For the past year I only say thank you to my girlfriend and nextcoming wife. She’s the one that had given to me unlimited support in every effort of my life and all I have and all I am now is dedited to her.

Love.

Here it’s a shot of my electric oven for my heat treatments. It’s inside an old fireplace. It’s safe. It’s handmande by an artisan, friend of mine and great knifemaker. It’s very well made and has a sofisticate controller that allows to me to do precise and exotic heat treatments. Naked but true as a Ducati Monster.

There is my first gas burner oven also, the smaller one on the left. Used sometimes. Can be improved with serious burners. Also this can be a future work.

This is actually… maybe in the future something more. In the meantime I dream for a forge so to make some sanmai or some damascus, and with the new baby surely I will do in the next future.

Ps: a radio that is a must for every lab!

Cheers!
