CS Friction Folder

A relative of mine asked to me a knife to be used to harvest mushrooms.
It gives me only one indication: make it red and easy to

Here it is.

Blade is 12C27 steel, length is 9,5cm (3,74″) , 3mm (.118″) thick. Finish is satin mirrored.
Handles are 11,5cm (4,5″) in Red G10.
Teflon Washers and stainless hardware.

Out of the Oven – 16/10/2010

Here there are the last batch of friction folders out of the oven for today.
The last tempering gave these blades this nice colouring.

On top the micro folder of 1″ (2,5cm) blade in RWL 34 and the others are in 12C27.

And I did a short test on previous batch… just to see if there is some hamon as planned.

Yeah. There is, obviously it will pop up better once the final polishing will be done properly.

Now it’s time to go versus the final grinding and polishing sessions.

Work In Progress – Friction Folders Coming Soon #2

From time to time there’s some picture showing what I’m doing.
Of course here you can find some updates on the friction folders that are coming soon.

In this picture you can see that the steels has bee flat grounded, shaped, and edge line is done.

Moreover the handles are close to the final shape, spacers are grinded and they are awaiting to make the grinds.

The last one will be one of mine, I hope. A small 2,5cm(1″) blade for a watchpocket friction folder.
Tiny and precious it is made in RWL34!

Cheers to everybody!
As soon I’m coming back from fantastic holidays the works for baldes goes! I really love this craft so, this weekend I did a lot of things (first of all a complete deep cleaning of most of the lab) and also some heat treatment.

Here they are!

As you can see there are some more new project. First of all it’s a big O2 carbon steel scraper/utility knife made as specifical request. It is a big scraper/utility/razor for wood, for a luthier.

Also there are the nice two friction foldersthat I’m making for Mike and BruFen.

And the latest new projects “The Micros”: they are small kirisdashis or screwdrivers made with the same precious steels that I use for my blades. Micro blades made for little tasks or what you want to do. A small pencil sharpener? A small staple remover? A small flat screwdriver as keyfob? What you want. They will be distributed in several ways. Those one are made in D2 steel and in Sandvik 12C27 so…

A lot more I’m currently working and a lot more in the next future. Stay tuned!

Work In Progress – Kitchen Knives

Two of these kitchen knives are already booked.
They are in 12C27 Sandvik steel, a premium stainless steel that I love so much.

After some rough grinding

They probably will be grinded with a laser cutting scandi bevel. awaiting ideas for the handles.

Hello guys,
a kitchen knife made for a friend.
Made on it’s own hand.
Steel is 12C27 3mm thick, 17cm blade, 13cm handle.
Brass corbys.
Brown Bison chrome tanned leather, hand stitched, just to have a case.

I think is a very focused knife. As I try to do always.
Hope you will like it!
