These are two new friction folders that I think they will come out great. Right now I’m checking tolerances and mechanism so the next step is to proceed for grinding the blades to the final shape.

I’m very happy and pleased to so thiese projects since they are very niec and the D2 carbon steel is one of my favourite since it is an excellent cutting steel. Usually people that demands of this D-2 steel is a user that loves to use the friction folders for cutting and for great performance in these kind of tasks.

Btw this is the first one that will have more than 9cm (3.54″) of cutting edge, a beast.

And this is a folder that is for my friend over the atlantic sea. I slightly modified the point to have better strength and more cutting power. Because it’s quite compact, about 7.5cm (around 3″), moreover in this design I can make a swedge .
I hope that my customer will like it!

Here some small kiridashis. It is one of the my very favourite shapes in blades since it’s knife at its maximum expression, they’re so useful in multiple tasks. And since they are made of 1095 carbon steel they cut and cut flawlessy. They are maybe made by scrap of steels but this doesn’t matter that I make them with any love and passion as possible.

I use them most of time as pencil and pastel sharpeners, as wood scrapers, as metal scribers, as openers of various things. I love them. Since they have up to 1″ (2,5cm) chisel ground blade, small and powerful enough.

They are small but they will be cute since I want to use nice woods, stabilized and will be sported of a nice full grain leather sheat. They are not worried about any task, they are pointy, they will be great cutter and performers.
Something like with use in mind but with an elegant touch.

This is the nessmuk that I love best. It is made from luthiery grade striped maple that we use for tops in guitars, violins and basses. The handles are only slightly coloured and than oiled. The results are in my humble opinion not in this pictures rendering very well.
It is a great cutter can do a lot of task, from food processing to camp activities in a flash. It’s a great utility knife.

And theyr contoured handles are really fitting like a glove in the hand. It is my lovely preferite shape of handles and I think i will do more like this. It’s like disappearing in the hand and who works with knives knows how much is valuable this feeling.

It sports a 120mm (4.7″) 3mm (.118″) D2 carbon steel tempered for high resistance in cutting rather than wear resistance. Scandi to zero grind. Handles are in this gorgeous Slovenian Striped Maple(it looks like 3D!) and are about 110mm (4.3″) with sturdy brass Corby bolts and red spacers.

An handmade sheat is next coming, the one in picture is made by a friend of mine but it is a bare blade protection not a sheat.

Hope you will like it.

This a classical nessmuk. I wanted to do one of this like the Sears suggestions, my way.
I always express satisfaction and love when seeing these kind of knives because they really works, they really looks gorgeous (always) and they really are “knives”.

This knife has a blade made in O2 carbon steel, about 110mm (4.3″) long, 4mm (.157″) thick. As the thickness and the convex to zero grind are suggesting that this nessie will support also medium to camp tasks plus the “normal” processing tasks as small wood, food and so forth.

Handles are in this Slovenian Striped Maple, light coloured to a gold honey with brass Corby rivets and red liners.

There are some small heat-treating pits left in the grinds. Instead to do a higher grind that leaves more room for weaknesses I left them. They also gives more characther to the blade without affecting the performance.
You like it or not in my opinion are better than a fake polished look.

Hope you will like it!
Cheers!

I totally agree with that philosophy for a knife that should do so much tasks in a fashionable way and it does not seems like a weapon or making you a robbery expert.

These are my two nessmuks. The first is a from top is made from a lightly coloured striped maple.
More details on these cute cutters will follow!

Okay, there are two fixed blades showing something I’d like to make since some time.Jigged blades over a strong and nice hard wood.

Something precious, for sure they will sport a lot of precious details: unique patterns of jigged blade, pau ferro (a very strong purple wood, also called purpleheart), brass mosaic pins, custom hand stitched leather sheat.

They are utilities, with about 8cm () 4mm (.160″) o2 carbon steel blade with my leaf shaped idea.

The flats, I like so much this kind of jigging. It’s beautiful, it’s unnique and most of all is relaxing. Like scratching when phjoning!

Cheers!

These are the rough shapes of two new friction folders that are coming out.
Right now are only roughly cutted and hand satin finished to a 600 grit. It’s a lot of work from now but for sure they will be great folders, since the steel is a 4mm (.157″) D2, and they will be finished in black.

One will be about 9,5cm edge (3.8″ about) with a santoku inspired shape. A small monster.
The other is about 7,5cm (3″) blade based on my other Nemo Friction Folder. Since I love to make unique projects and I love to always improve this one has a slightly different point shape. More classic and I think more utilitarian, hope will like to my friend.
