These are two new friction folders that I think they will come out great. Right now I’m checking tolerances and mechanism so the next step is to proceed for grinding the blades to the final shape.

I’m very happy and pleased to so thiese projects since they are very niec and the D2 carbon steel is one of my favourite since it is an excellent cutting steel. Usually people that demands of this D-2 steel is a user that loves to use the friction folders for cutting and for great performance in these kind of tasks.

Btw this is the first one that will have more than 9cm (3.54″) of cutting edge, a beast.

And this is a folder that is for my friend over the atlantic sea. I slightly modified the point to have better strength and more cutting power. Because it’s quite compact, about 7.5cm (around 3″), moreover in this design I can make a swedge .
I hope that my customer will like it!

They are small but they will be cute since I want to use nice woods, stabilized and will be sported of a nice full grain leather sheat. They are not worried about any task, they are pointy, they will be great cutter and performers.
Something like with use in mind but with an elegant touch.

Of course, this new year is started again with new exciting challenges.
Here there are two new utilities knives in progress, both in 4mm (0.160″)S30V stainless steel.
One of this probably will serve a friend of mine in Afghanistan, belonging to an italian special team.

I love this shape, is compact yet strong, not a full hand grip but it is very secure . The steel is a great performer and will serve flawlessly.

Right now they are barely finished to a 600 grit hand satin. They will have a nice grind with false top edge and sculpted handles. But things can change…

Two of them are for a customer, he need to choose from the black camp knife and the classical Hunting knife in Teak.

The others are my personal design of nessmuks! They sports gorgeous handles, nice steels and soon a great leather sheat.

And all the two nessmuks have stunning AAA Tiger Maple Luthiery Grade handles. Made of the same wood where here in the lab my brother-in-law make violins and other instruments.
This one is made by D2 Steel, scary sharp.

One Nessie is almost done, the other is on the way for finishing.

Cheers!

Of course here you can find some updates on the friction folders that are coming soon.

In this picture you can see that the steels has bee flat grounded, shaped, and edge line is done.

Moreover the handles are close to the final shape, spacers are grinded and they are awaiting to make the grinds.

The last one will be one of mine, I hope. A small 2,5cm(1″) blade for a watchpocket friction folder.
Tiny and precious it is made in RWL34!

Cheers
